It’s summer, and therefore time for our annual family pilgrimage to pay homage to sand and surf. Trust me, taking three boys to the beach isn’t exactly a relaxing vacation. 17yo brought a friend a long, and I only saw them in the mornings, passed out in the living room with the TV running infomercials. (The one on vacuums was especially amusing. I hoped that some subliminal message would sneak into their brains and they’d wake up wanting to do household chores.)
The almost-8 year old, and 5 year old were another matter entirely. Food, pool, beach, arcade, putt-putt, laser-tag. Thankfully my mother came with us, so when the youngest was tired of the beach, she could take him in. This left me only one child to watch. I paced anxiously along the surf’s edge for hours, cheering as he caught waves on his boogie board, and waving him in when he got too far out. He’s going to be my little surfer. And rock climber.
In the evenings, Mom and I would sit out on the porch and watch the sun set over Assawoman Bay as we read. Once the kids were snug in bed, I snuck in some work on Angel of Chaos.
Now it’s back to business. Demons of Desire releases July 21st, and I’ve got some blog interviews and reviews scheduled for the 28th. I’m thrilled with how this book turned out. I hope you will be too!
