Dar helped his foster sister become the ruler of Hel, and helped her free the enslaved humans from the elves. It’s about time he helped himself – to a fun week of mayhem in the Windy City. Collapsing a few buildings and corrupting politicians is an ideal vacation for a demon in Chicago, but Dar didn’t count on a beautiful angel sabotaging his fun and putting him to work.
Asta is an angelic enforcer, scanning for demons in her assigned territory and sending them to an early grave. Unfortunately, the latest trespasser from Hel has diplomatic immunity – but immunity doesn’t mean she can’t coerce him into helping her track and dispatch the powerful demon that’s been cycling in and out of her radar for the last few days.
Demons are the sworn enemies of every angel, but Asta must learn to trust Dar or the dark presence that is growing in Chicago will spread – and this particular enemy has the skills and knowledge to send human civilization back to the dark ages.
She has one week left as an enforcer before she returns to her heavenly home – one week to catch an elusive monster, and one week to safeguard her heart from the demon who is determined to seduce her to sin.

_____

The demon shed his rat form, rising to his feet and shooing the rats away from Asta.  They fled obediently, darting into nooks and crannies in the building wall and along the fence line until the only two beings in the alleyway were Asta and the demon.

She should have blown him to bits, should have dove at him, wrestled him to the ground and ripped his head from his neck, but all she could do was try to catch her breath and keep from bursting into tears.  Some angel she was, some powerful enforcer. A century of exemplary service wiped out in one evening.

“Get out of my city and stay out.  If I catch you here again, I’ll kill you.

I always assumed that that some few (more popular narrators) read what they like… but aren’t necessarily good for every book. I couldn’t see Kate Reading narrating any of the Imp books, for example. She could handle Asta’s POV almost perfectly… but I think it would be like painting a pine tree purple. If the one I mentioned earlier is interested (and I have a feeling she will be… as it has a similar flavor to Molly’s books) … I’d bet my paycheck you would be happy with the results.

  1. I’ll check her out for some of my other books. Many narrators are under contract with publishers and don’t have the bandwidth to take on indie work, but I’ll see if she’s interested in auditioning.

Oh… and a thought on your narrator… if it matters… She is good, but seems like a closer match for a less “childish” character. I think… if you could get Amanda Ronconi to narrate Sam’s POV… you would be much happier with the results. I think yours lacks the innate sense of amused delight that Sam (Az) seems to radiate. If you get a chance… check out “Nice Girls Don’t Have Fangs” by Molly Harper. I am certain you will almost hear Sam speaking the instant the book starts.

It’s for the best… *sob*. I understand *sob*! Don’t worry about me… I can take it!

Truthfully though! I like the question better than the answer anyway. My brain passes stories with the flatulence of a chilli chef and there is nothing to contradict me. I love the world you created… it is just a bit challenging to return to the real world and do boring stuff like go to work! If only them annoying angels decided to share telepathy with us humans… I could live in your world all the time :p

  2. Ah, I understand now! I’ve got all sorts of surprises in store for you all in upcoming books. And that’s all I’m gonna say!

LOL. I read that post. I meant… Three Wishes gave me hope that a certain species may increase in population from 1 to 2. I am attempting not to spoil anybody’s experience if they haven’t read the rest of your wonderful series.

  3. Yes! Sam will be back in Kingdom of Lies, which is tentatively set to release late summer.

So… I felt like the book ended a few minutes too early :p. Can we expect to see another pair of black feathered wings in the upcoming books?

    when can I pre-order?

  4. Thanks – I’m so glad you enjoyed Three Wishes! The next one out will be Sins of the Flesh (Amber’s next book), which I’m tentatively thinking that first week in June. Hopefully everything will go smoothly and I’ll be able to get four novels to you all this year. (Fingers crossed!)

I just finished the book. How do you see MORE. I love both Dar and Asta. A must read for all Imp fans. KEEP UP THE GREAT.
I do wish you could write a book every three months.
    I’m greedy like that.
    Waiting for the next Book/s
